Within these hands,
these soiled hands
lies a gift too big for the whole word to handle.
A warming sensation,
a feeling of something
not seen in this world for a very long time.
It fades, diminishes,
periodically loses power,
but will always come back in times of desperation.
It’s a light caressing.
Enveloping and evolving,
gaining strength to stamp out the blight of the world.
It is innocent,
Forever increasing its number of believers.
Bigger than wars,
greater than heroes.
It’s the hope of the many who wish for peace.
To the kids suffering from ADHD and those who are bullied.
There is hope for you.
If you need medication to function, take it. Whatever you do, don’t let people who are going to pigeonhole you get you down. If they call you names? Tell them off; don’t ignore it. Take it from someone who knows what you’re going through; ignoring doesn’t work. Names hurt just as much as the sticks and stones and don’t let anybody else ever tell you otherwise.
Stick to your guns. If you’re having problems through whatever means, don’t hesitate to stick out. If people don’t listen to you, say it as many times as you can until somebody does. This is going to make you appear to be annoying and obnoxious, possibly even a tattle-tale. ”Nobody likes a tattle-tale.” does NOT apply in these cases. You’re doing this to protect yourself, to get the help that you rightfully deserve and to ensure that others don’t have to suffer as you did.
Make them listen.
As someone who was bullied in school and suffers from ADHD to this day, I know how you feel. But I want you to know that while the wounds may take ages to heal, it’s worth it to prove people wrong. You’re beautiful. You’re smart. You’re talented. You can do anything you want and don’t let anybody tell you different.
As my fifth grade teacher said: Be a leader, not a follower.
Be yourself. Be happy. Screw the haters. Seriously. They’re just jealous of you.
Be brave. Be strong. It’s okay to fight back, but do it the smart way. Don’t be like them. Don’t sink to their level. As much it’s tempting to do so, it’s going to come back to bite you in bad ways.
Wear your colours proud, whatever they may be and know that there are a ton of people out there in the world who are rooting for you.
It’s cliche to say but it does get better. There are those out there who love you and appreciate you for who you are. Don’t focus on the hate anymore, it’s only going to bring you down.
I’ve been there and I pulled through. So can you.
